Ontario Nature will be dedicating our 2020 Giving Tuesday efforts towards the conservation and restoration of the Sydenham River Watershed in the diverse and fragile Carolinian Zone. Your donation will be generously matched by Ontario Nature's Board of Directors, up to $5,000!

The Sydenham River Watershed, located in Chatham-Kent, Lambton and Middlesex areas, is a biodiversity hotspot. Less than 12% of local forest remains, which threatens many species at risk including the cerulean warbler, eastern wood-pewee and several endangered turtles. It is part of the Carolinian Zone, a region under intense pressure as it hosts 25% of the Canadian population.

What your Giving Tuesday gift will support

  • Restoring and surveying grassland and Carolinian forest habitat, and establishing suitable habitat for breeding amphibians in the floodplain.
  • Creating a long-term conservation plan to protect wildlife and habitat in the Sydenham River Watershed.
  • Involving the community in volunteer tree planting and other conservation projects.
  • Hosting workshops with First Nations, conservation organizations, local nature clubs, and private landowners to conduct conservation planning for the watershed.

Make a donation today or start your own fundraising page to help us reach our goal. Thank you so much for your support!
