As many of you know, bringing awareness to IPV is an issue that I care very deeply about. On November 30th, I am joining Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence, a 6km walk to raise funds and awareness for Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region and women and children in our community experiencing domestic violence. The number of kilometers is symbolic: every 6 days in Canada a woman is killed by her intimate partner.
The increase and escalation of violence against women calls for action. Thirty-two femicides were committed in the first 6 months of 2024 in Ontario alone. We must continue raising awareness and funds to prevent these tragedies from happening.
