The homeless are not hopeless.  You can be the hope.

St. John's Anglican Church is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Long, Long Night of Hope, a fundraising campaign in support of the Lookout Emergency Aid Society's homeless shelter on the North Shore.

The 2017 Homeless Count results show that homelessness in the Lower Mainland has increased by 30% in just 3 years! While many of these souls live on the streets and in shelters, it is estimated that at least one-third of homeless people live in their vehicles, seeking out safe havens in parking lots and remote roadways. This includes people who are working for minimum wage and cannot afford skyrocketing housing costs. It includes pensioners who worked for decades and contributed to society for years, but now their income is not enough to afford the basic necessities of life. It includes men and women who have lost their way, and need someone to care enough to lend a helping hand.  St. John's Anglican Church and Lookout Society care, and they need you.

The campaign is already underway, and you can join today! Create and launch your fundraising page here and raise money to help the homeless population of our community. There is no minimum fundraising goal - challenge yourself to whatever you think is possible! Then share the page through social media like Facebook, twitter, and email, and ask your friends to share as well. Donors can contribute online with a credit card, receiving an immediate tax receipt from St. John's Anglican Church.

Cheque donations can be made out to St John’s Anglican Church, with your name and Long Night of Hope in the memo field. Once the cheque is received by the church, we will have the donation added to your fundraising total.

The campaign culminates with The Long, Long Night of Hope on Saturday, February 24th, 2018.  On this very long, cold, winter's night, participants will camp out in their cars or stretch out on a pew in the church, to get just a tiny taste of what it is like to be homeless.  They will be cold, they will be uncomfortable, they will be humbled.

We welcome anyone and everyone to take part in The Long, Long Night of Hope 2018! You do not have to be a church-goer, you do not have to be an experienced fundraiser - you just need to care.
