This spring, you can help support the emotional wellbeing of your neighbours in Cambridge and North Dumfries by joining in our Cambridge Moves for Mental Health campaign!
Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services has been serving our community for 83 years. We work to ensure everyone in our community has access to the tools they need to manage their mental health, from affordable counselling for individuals, couples and families, group therapy programs, seniors lunches and outreach in North Dumfries, addiction services, and 2 Recovery Homes.
Come help us tackle the stigma around mental health in our community and join us in person for Cambridge Moves for Mental Health. We encourage individuals, families, and teams of all ages to come out to downtown Galt on Saturday April 29th.Sign up to walk, roll, skip, skate, dance, run, bike - whatever method of movement brings you joy - 2.5 or 5 KM in support of Porchlight's community-based mental health work. You can register as an individual, create a team, or join an existing one. Ask your friends or family to donate, collect pledges, and come join us in the community this spring!

Date: Saturday April 29th
Location: 50 Dickson Street, Cambridge, ON
Registration and Check-in from 10:30 am.Event begins at 11 am with remarks and warm up.
Move either 2.5 or 5 KM around Downtown Galt on a set route with multiple rest stops beginning at 11:30 am. Lunch, music, and family friendly entertainment to follow for all participants.
It is critical that we do more than just talking about mental health. We need to act. This spring, we are asking you to move to raise funds so that everyone in our community can get counselling when they need it most.

1. How do I participate in Cambridge Moves for Mental Health?
To participate, you either need to register online or fill out a paper registration form and drop it off to the Porchlight main office - 18 Walnut Street - before Friday April 28th. It's easy to register online:
- Choose to ‘Join a Team’, ‘ Create a Team’, or ‘Join as an Individual’ listed above
- Complete the registration form to access your personal fundraising page and/or team fundraising page
- If you are participating with friends, family or coworkers, we recommend choosing the ‘Team’ option when you join so that everyone involved in your initiative is able to manage their own personal fundraising page.2. How do I join a team that already exists?
To join a team that is already registered, you will need to know the Team Name or the Team Captain’s Name to find them. From there, it’s simple:
- Click the ‘Join a team’ button and search for that team,
- Click ‘Join this team’ next to the correct search result
- Complete the registration form to access your personal fundraising page.
3. Is there a registration fee
There is no registration fee, or fundraising minimums to register. All participants are encouraged to create a personal fundraising goal and donate online via your personal fundraising page. Everyone who participates in our event, regardless of how much money they raise, will receive a Cambridge Moves for Mental Health t-shirt and be provided with a bagged lunch of April 29th after you finishing the 2.5 km or 5 km route.
4. How do I fundraise? Is there a fundraising minimum?
Fundraising for Cambridge Moves for Mental Health can be done from anywhere! Simply share your team or individual fundraising page on social media or send it directly to family and friends. There is a paper pledge form available There is no fundraising minimum required to participate. We are grateful for all your fundraising efforts and encourage you to find creative ways to tell people why you are moving for mental health this spring!
5. What will you do with the funds that I raise?
All proceeds raised through Cambridge Moves for Mental Health will go to supporting Porchlight's work providing accessible therapy and addiction services in Cambridge and North Dumfries.
6. How do I make an online donation?
Participants are encouraged to create a personal fundraising page, and email that link to family and friends. This link will take you to the sender’s fundraising page. When you click on that link, you should be redirected to their page where you see a Donate button. Click ‘Donate Now’ and complete the form to make your donation.
You may also see a post on social media and the process is the same. Click on the link that’s included in the post, which should take you to the event or personal fundraising page. Click ‘Donate Now’, and complete the form to make your donation.
You can also visit our event webpage and click ‘Make a Donation’ at the top of the homepage. From there you can search for the person or team you wish to donate to you.
7. When will I receive my tax receipt?
All online donors will receive an official tax receipt to the email address provided when completing their donation. If you have trouble finding your tax receipt, please contact robyns@porchlightcnd.org
8. Who do I contact if I have questions or need technical support?

9. What to expect on Saturday, April 29th for Cambridge Moves for Mental Health?
On Saturday, April 29th we will meet at Civic Square in front of Cambridge City Hall. From 10:30 onward, there will be registration and our team will collect paper pledge forms, donations, and hand out t-shirts to all Cambridge Moves for Mental Health participants. Volunteers will be available to direct people to parking and route maps will be passed out.
At 11:00, we will begin with a Land Acknowledgement and then have some remarks from Team Porchlight and local leaders about the importance of mental health in our community. We will then have a short warm up before getting ready to move at 11:30 am!Folks who are completing 2.5 KM will do one lap around Downtown Galt, heading up Ainslie Street, with the option to stop at Porchlight for the washroom. Crossing the bridge, you'll continue up Grand Ave towards the Cambridge Mill, crossing once again before either doing another loop or heading back to City Hall for lunch! There, you will be greeted by Porchlight volunteers who will pass out bagged lunches, music from our DJ, and entertainment for the kids. You can hang out for as long as you like and socialize with your neighbours. There will be prizes announced for the teams and individuals who raise the most money, have the best spirit, etc.
