Creating CommUNITY

Welcome to our 2024 Crowdfunding Campaign! Our campaign's theme is Creating CommUNITY. Student Open Circles (SOC) supports McMaster University students in building authentic connections with others and themselves while making a difference through service in the community.

This year, the first $3,000 will be matched, doubling the impact of your donation! Our goal is to raise a total of $12,000 to support our various life-transforming programs and resources for students who give back to the community.

Student Open Circles fosters personal growth, community engagement, and meaningful connections among students. We offer spaces for students to explore questions of purpose, values, and social responsibility. Through various programs like volunteer groups, on-campus reflections, and skill-building workshops, we create a supportive environment for students to engage in open discussions, develop leadership skills, and contribute positively to their communities.

Facilitators Jeff and Marybeth meet with students one-on-one, in small groups, and workshops and retreats. With the help of two part-time assistants, they take on the enormous task of organizing more than 300 students volunteering in weekly groups, giving 10,000 hours of service at community organizations. They provide much needed space to students to reflect and connect while serving our community.
