Hi friends and family! I’m fundraising for Student Open Circles’ (SOC) 2021 Crowdfunding Campaign- Celebrating 20 years of Diversity. SOC is a nonprofit that takes on the enormous task of giving 17,800 hours of service at community organizations each year. As an undergrad, I volunteered with SOC at various placements throughout Hamilton, such as Inasmuch Women’s Shelter and Learning & Fun After-School Program. Beyond coordinating volunteer placements, SOC provides a supportive, inclusive and diverse community for students to connect and reflect, with a huge emphasis on fostering empathy and self-growth. For me, this meant meeting with a small group a couple of times a month to consider more deeply our roles in the community both at placement and beyond.
This year marks SOC's 20th year of supporting McMaster University students' personal growth through diversity. Any support you’re able to give for SOC is so appreciated! :)
