Seva Food Bank serves families in need across seven postal codes across Mississauga. These families are struggling to afford the basic necessities of life. Whether from social assistance or precarious employment, their meagre earnings are offset by the high cost of housing leaving them with little to pay for food, transportation, personal care and childcare. In our community, the primary reason given for coming to a food bank is employment-related. Even when they have a job, many just don’t earn enough to pay for basic living expenses. Food insecurity has a major impact on their lives.
