Born and raised in Saskatoon, Tonya is proud to serve her community as a 22 year member of the Saskatoon Police Service. Besides the hustle associated to a dynamic career and the raising of five children, she is also entering her fourth year of a Hons BA in Policing with Wilfred Laurie University. Currently Tonya is the Inspector in charge of the Community Engagement Division.
“As a patrol officer I have had a unique vantage point in baring witness to our city’s homelessness and poverty. Participating in Sanctum Survivor will strip away, if even for a brief time, the power and privilege associated to that perspective. I am hopeful that the experience will deepen my awareness of the challenges faced by many, and that the lessons learned will make me a better community member and police leader.”
