Fatima has called Saskatoon home for almost 21 years. She is a consultant at Coovadia Consulting and provides educational opportunities in the areas of race, identity and social cohesion.
Fatima is currently serving in her 5th year as a Commissioner with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission. Over the years, she has been involved in numerous community organizations and boards and currently serves as a director on the SaskTel and Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation Boards, as well as the Vice Chair of Concentus Citizenship Education Foundation. Fatima is an ardent advocate for human rights and ensuring that every person is given the respect and dignity they deserve.
“I chose to participate in the Sanctum Survivor Challenge because I believe that every person should be afforded the basic rights of having shelter, safety and services to enable them to grow, thrive and succeed. In a city like ours, in a nation of wealth, there is no conceivable reason for any human to be unhoused, to be marginalized, to be cut off from basic services, to be hungry, to be exposed to the elements- and it is our collective responsibility to overcome barriers and find meaningful and tangible solutions to homelessness”.
