PARC is the primary service and community hub for a large population of people living in south Parkdale recovering from mental illness and/or an addiction along with precarious shelter, food insecurity and social isolation. South Parkdale has recently been designated a priority neighbourhood area due to the needs of 6,000 people living under $20,000 annual income with another 8,400 living between $20,000 and $49,000. similarly 9,400 are spending more than 30% of their income on housing.

75% of PARC members are un-employed or under-employed. 88 % receive government social assistance with 70 % on ODSP and 18% subsisting on Ontario Works. Sixty-five percent of kitchen volunteers are either long-time PARC members or have lived experience with poverty/addictions/mental health/social isolation. Members can access counseling support 365 days a year, including assistance with housing support, food security, health supports, harm reduction, and income supports. For over 35 years, PARC members have come together in our drop-in centre to build a unique and vibrant community.
