Red Shoe Walk 2023!

Register TODAY and join in the fun on September 23 in downtown Collingwood, or any any time during the month of September with your own team!

We're moving the red shoes back downtown to a one-morning Walk on Hurontario Street in Collingwood. On Saturday, September 23, we'll provide the shoes and the street with space to show your best Red Shoe Walk as we raise valuable funds for our operations at My Friend's House.

We are calling on everyone to join in on the Red Shoe fun! Step out with a pair of red heels that symbolize your commitment to end violence against women.

If September 23 doesn't work for you, or you want to "do your own thing" that is totally fine too. We've had teams over the past few years who've pub crawled, golfed, had pool parties and tea parties - whatever you want to do in your red shoes is fine!

We bring you the shoes and leave the creative license to you. Involvement is easy! You can join as an individual or start a team. Our goal is 200 participants raising $130,000 to support the demand for My Friend's House in Southern Georgian Bay.

Your participation is a way for you or team to make a statement that violence against women is not acceptable. It will only be solved by everyone working together. Your community contribution will have an incredible impact. Involve your friends, colleagues, and family members and walk with us September 23, 2023 to add your voice to this important cause. You will be able to show support through social media tagging @MyFriendsHouseCollingwood and using the hashtag #RedShoeWalk.

About My Friend’s House

My Friend's House is a non-profit agency offering support for abused women and children living in the Georgian Triangle of Ontario. Since opening in 1991, My Friend's House has helped thousands of women get the safety and support they need to rebuild their lives.

We serve 600 women and their children each year – 200 through our Shelter Program and the balance through our Outreach, Transition and Children's Programs.

Our free, confidential services are available to all women and their children across the Georgian Triangle – from Wasaga Beach and Collingwood to Clearview to The Blue Mountains and Meaford and all parts in between.

Due to the pandemic, My Friend's House saw an increase of 20% in calls and 40% increase in violence. As such, My Friend's House relies more than ever from the community to help raise money for the shelter.

My Friend’s House must raise over 50% of the shelter's cost this year to provide programs and shelter to women and children fleeing domestic abuse in our community which amounts to approximately $700,000!
