Run/Ride/Walk for the Park

Levée de fonds pour Mohawk Village Memorial Park

8 640,00 $amassés sur 10 000,00 $

Campagne terminée le 2 décembre 2024

In 1947, the 10-year-old John “Dub” Elliott ran away in his first attempt to escape the sadness, cruelty and abuse he endured at the Mohawk Institute Residential School ‘Mush Hole”. He travelled an estimated 20 kms back to his home on Six Nations.  During his life at the Mush Hole, he ran away approximately 35 times; upon his return received harsh punishment.

Mohawk Village Memorial Park will be having a charity walk/run titled “Walk for the Park” in honour of all children who were students of the Mush Hole.

Join us on Saturday September 14th, 2024 at 184 Mohawk Street, Brantford, Ontario (the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School) or participate by creating your own Fundraising "Walk for the park" at a location and date of your choosing (before or after our event).

Individuals who participate in this fundraising event may either walk, run, ride or another physical activity of your choice.

Proceeds from this fundraising campaign will go towards further development of the Mohawk Village Memorial Park which is located on the same grounds of the Mohawk Institute Residential School ‘Mush Hole”.  This park will be a physical and symbolic representation of what can be achieved moving forward - a legacy our group of Residential School Survivors want to leave for all.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact Planning Committee email marilyn@mohawkvillagepark.com.
