Our Mission

It is the mission of the Highland Animal Relief Team (HART), to provide supporting care to lost, injured and abandoned animals, while promoting humane treatment of all animals in our catchment area.

About (HART) HIGHLAND ANIMAL RELIEF TEAM INC.

Our large catchment area of thousands of square miles, includes 13 Municipalities. Low population density, poverty and a prevailing "animal ignorance," make fundraising an extraordinary challenge to this small, dedicated corps of volunteers.

Working in an area where local politicians have been heard to claim, there is no animal control problem, we just shoot them, is psychologically exhausting for volunteers willing to undertake this enormous responsibility.

This large body of work has been carried out by a 100% volunteer organization since 1995. Hundreds of dogs and cats are annually rescued, provided basic and life saving vet care, including spay/neuter. They are then fostered until responsible "forever" adoptive homes are found.
