Walk a Mile - COVID Style

Walk a Mile in HER Shoes® is a symbolic march that gives men the opportunity to take a stand against the societal restrictions placed on women and specifically the issue of violence against women and children. Over the past 15 years, Walk a Mile has raised $1,065,732 for Gillian’s Place. This year marks the 15th anniversary and we were planning to raise over $125,000.

As a result of COVID-19 and with the anticipation that demand on our services will increase like never before, we have had to significantly adapt this signature fundraiser. This year, we need everyone in our community to walk—not just men. Walk a Mile - COVID Style is Niagara’s March to End Violence Against Women will. This community march will ensure that Gillian’s Place is there to support women and children when they need it most.

Event details:

• Families plan to walk in their neighbourhood or the community decked out in pink attire.
• Families register their walk on a “virtual” map.
• Families are encouraged to help spread awareness about violence against women and compete for the best pink-decorated house in October.

          11:30 - Take to the streets to Walk a Mile. 

          1:00pm - Closing Ceremonies with winners and grand total announced.
