New Boys Dormitory!

In 1989 a Children’s Home, nestled within the Himilayian mountains, became a place of refuge and peace for children who found themselves trapped and victimized by crushing poverty.  This haven lovingly raises the children before sending them to university allowing them, who would have otherwise been forgotten and discarded, to pursue their vocational dreams lifting them and their future families out of the cycle of poverty.  

In 2006, Child of Mine (a Kelowna based charity) partnered with this house of peace.  Although the Home was a loving place; many of its buildings were over 100 years old and their cow dung and mud plaster walls were crumbling. Over the last number of years, Child of Mine has invested in infrastructure, building new bathrooms, classrooms, roofs, walkways, and redoing the water system amongst other projects. Many of  the buildings have now been restored but one major need still exists-a new boy’s dormitory.  

Child of Mine exists to not only support the financial needs of the Home but to create an awareness that we are all family. It aims to build bridges and tear down walls, uniting us and defeating poverty which grips so many of our family members. It wants to invite you into the dream of providing a healthy and safe place to house the boys.  

Nearly half of the $800,000 has been raised, and construction is well underway. With your help we can complete this project.  This year, we are hoping to raise $40,000 through our walk/run at the SunRype Okanagan Marathon event on October 19-20. Please consider donating today.
