Join the #HospitalityHustle to Support our Province’s Hospitality and Tourism Industry
This year’s #HospitalityHustle is presented by Odlum Brown Limited, with the support of Industry Partner Bacardi. All British Columbians are welcome to participate in the FREE virtual event. The intention of the #HospitalityHustle is for participants to set a physical activity goal that will enhance their physical and mental wellbeing. Registered participants who post about their training regimen on social media will be entered in a daily prize draw, and everyone will be welcome to join a “grand finale” online dance party hosted by a live DJ on Sunday, May 30th.
Over 400 hospitality industry workers registered for the 2020 #HospitalityHustle, and we hope this year’s event will be even bigger. The #HospitalityHustle is an opportunity to have fun while increasing our activity level, and provides a way to connect safely with friends and colleagues during the ongoing pandemic. It also shows support for the workers and owners in the hospitality sector who continue to experience challenges due to COVID-19.
Participants in the #HospitalityHustle choose a physical activity of any kind – walking 5km, dancing in their living rooms for an hour, or shooting hoops in their driveway for 30 minutes, for example – and then train to meet their goal. We encourage people to challenge their friends and coworkers across BC to join, or to form teams and challenge others to do the same. Last year’s #HospitalityHustle generated over 500 Instagram posts, and had a positive effect on the lives of many who participated.
#HospitalityHustle goals:
Give people a healthy goal that will help keep them physically and mentally strong
Show solidarity with those owners and workers in the hospitality and tourism industry who are :
- struggling and may have lost their livelihoods
- still working hard to keep their business afloat
- providing a takeout option for those who are socially isolating and/or need a night off
Create awareness of the BCHF - Who do you know that we can help?
We encourage #HospitalityHustle participants to:
- Set a goal! The form of the activity is not important, the goal is just to get moving!
- Share their experience on social media with the tag #HospitalityHustle
- Make it fun, be creative…. show us your workouts
- Challenge a friend anywhere in BC to join the event, or
- Create a team and challenge others to do the same
