Support the Northwest Territories Wildfire Relief Efforts

As of Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 officials have ordered an evacuation of people in Yellowknife as wildfires approach the city. The capital city is home to 20,000 residents which will be evacuated in a phased approach determined by level of risk.

There are currently around 240 fires burning across the territory, leaving thousands of people displaced from their homes, as of mid August. This has caused the destruction of homes, structures and the closure of highways. It has also impacted wireless telecommunications in the area causing many residents to lose their ability to gain new information about the crisis.

The lack of rain and continuing dry, hot weather is only making matters worse. Communities in the Northwest Territories are in need of your help. Donate today to help support organizations providing relief, recovery and response to the wildfires in the Northwest Territories.
