IMPORTANT: Due to personal reasons, the actual ride will be postponed until next summer: June 28, 2025! Thanks for all of your continued support!
It's impossible to miss the fact that our city has a serious hunger problem on our hands, and it's hitting close to home in Thorncliffe Park. The stats don't lie - food bank usage in Canada has shot up by a staggering 78.5% since 2019. Families in our community, especially since the pandemic hit, are struggling to make ends meet.
Enter the TNO Food Collaborative. They started by helping seniors stay fed and safe during the chaos of 2020. Today, their reach extends to over 1,100 families in Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park combined. They're doing the heavy lifting, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.
I've taken on challenges in the past, cycling to Montreal twice on a six day supported charity bike ride. But this time, I'm stepping it up a notch, riding my bike longer and faster than ever before.
Imagine a three-day, self-supported cycling journey from here to Montreal twice as fast as I ever have before. No support crew, just me, tackling the road, fixing my own bike, and figuring out food and lodging along the way. At over fifty, it's not going to be a walk in the park, but important causes deserve a big effort.
Food security isn't just about silencing stomach growls; it's about creating a path to a better future. Better focus in school, reduced family stress, and improved work success—it's a ripple effect that goes beyond a full belly.
I'm asking you to stand with me in supporting the TNO Food Collaborative. Make a tax-deductible donation and be a part of the solution. Let's tackle hunger head-on and make sure no one in our community gets left behind.
