Shim's Ride 2024

In August 2019, our friend, roommate, and teammate, Mathew Szymanowski (a.k.a. Shim), was struck by a motor vehicle while out on his bike and suffered a spinal cord injury, resulting in paralysis from the neck down.

On July 25th, 2020, we (Cole, Nick, and Sam) rode from Port Hardy to Victoria (520 km) in a fundraising effort to support Shim's recovery costs and also raise awareness for Spinal Cord Injury B.C. We had incredible support along the way and the community came together to raise $85,000 for his treatment. Since then, we have raised $68k in support of spinal cord injury research and rehabilitation.

On July 27, 2024, in partnership with Praxis Spinal Cord Institute, we will be hosting Shim's Grand Prix, a criterium bike race around Jonathan Rogers Park in Vancouver, BC. For more information on how to register for the event or buy a jersey, please visit out website linked below:
