We love Kart racing. For 5 years we have been racing at the Manitoba Karting Association near Gimli. We have done it for joy and personal challenge. This year we have decided to race for something greater than our personal goals…we will race to raise funds for Kuwala Christian Girls School in Malawi.
Kuwala is a boarding school in rural Malawi that educates girls who have no other options due to extreme poverty. Kuwala provides a safe environment where students are cared for and can focus on their education. Learn more at kuwala.org.
Our inspiration for choosing Kuwala comes from a mission trip our family took a few years ago where we learned first-hand about the extreme poverty that traps millions of children in rural Africa. In particular, we noticed that girls suffer more than others. Lack of food, clothing, sanitation, and abuse are just a few of the challenges that prevent girls from getting an education.
We would like to raise $1,200 this season and sponsor a girl for a full year of education. This amount will provide nutritious food, housing, a uniform, school fees and supplies. We will be participating in 10 competitive races between May and September. We hope to raise awareness and make an impactful difference along the way.
