Memorializing Kate

As anyone who came across her path knows, Kathleen is an everlasting wave of love, acceptance, and playfulness. Her purpose in life was to nurture, support, and care. Her love of gardening, dedication to building pollinator gardens, and passion for growing the Monarch butterfly population led her to release over 1,000 Monarchs over the years.

Kathleen's life chapter of volunteering at the Oak Ridges (Port Perry) Hospice was just getting started, and we will ensure they feel her impact. 

To open early, Oak Ridges Hospice had to pause efforts to build out its garden and paths. With our collective donations, we can assist the Oak Ridges Hospice in designing, constructing, planting, and maintaining a bird, bee, and butterfly garden. For years, Kathleen had a passion business called Birds, Bees, and Butterflies, creating pollinator gardens for select businesses and families and selling feeders and supplies to encourage home bird enthusiasts and bird diversity. Her passion was in sharing her creations with others, giving her knowledge, and expanding pollinator areas throughout our communities. 

The Hospice is in the early stages of building its garden system. Your donations will:

1) Allow a future garden to be memorialized in Kathleen's name

2) Allow the Hospice to consult with Kathleen's family to customize the garden to Kathleen's style and pollinator purpose

3) Help the Hospice in creating their peaceful gardens for their patients and their families

4) Deliver, at least in part, the contribution Kathleen wanted to make to the Oak Ridges Hospice community

The fundraising efforts conclude on Kathleen's 65th Birthday.
