When Mark Taylor was a young man, he had the opportunity to experience an Outward Bound expedition and it made a huge and positive impact on his life. When Mark became a parent, although it was a challenge financially, he was determined to see that both of his children had the same opportunity to participate in one of Outward Bound's life empowering experiences.
In Mark's memory, his family has created a legacy fund to support a student, who might not have the financial ability to otherwise, in participating in an Outward Bound wilderness experience. This is the second year (of many) that we will be raising money for Outward Bound, an organization very close to Mark's heart. In essence, this is a way for Mark to continue to "facilitate recreation" and share his passion for outdoor adventure and education with the community.
Mark's family feels that Outward Bound Canada's mission, "to cultivate resilience, leadership, connections, and compassion through inspiring and challenging journeys of self-discovery in the natural world", is a fitting representation of Mark's own values.
We encourage everyone to celebrate Mark by getting outside for some "fitness", dreaming big and going after a positive goal.
