Mad about Bowman? Donate to SACE to make a difference!

I created a fundraiing page for the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton when it was first reported that Stan Bowman would be a candidate to be the Edmonton Oilers' new General Manager. I said that I would create another fundraising page if the Oilers were to hire Bowman. Well, they hired Bowman on July 24, 2024.

Bowman was a part of the management team that failed to immediately handle a serious report of sexual assault involving a player and a member of the team's coaching staff in 2010. He was suspended by the league in 2021, and he was reinstated by the league making him eligible to work in the league again on July 10, 2024.

It's an incredibly disappointing hiring by the Oilers. However, yelling and screaming at the team about it won't make it any better. If you're upset about Bowman being hired because he failed to do enough to support a victim of sexual assault, then do something to support victims of sexual assault in our community. Donate to the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton because they make a difference in the lives of victims of sexual assualt by offering free counselling for victims, and they put a lot of effort into public outreach and education to prevent future instances of sexual assault.
