The Golden & District Hospital needs more Spacelab monitors.
Spacelab monitors are the adult version of the neonatal monitor that was purchased with funds raised by the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital in 2020.
"As anyone who has visited the emergency department knows, we always check vital signs when you come up to the triage desk or in by ambulance. When those vital signs are abnormal and when we are worried that someone is very sick, we monitor vital signs like heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation continuously."
Dr Meghan Guy is the Chief of Staff at the Golden & District Hospital.
"The layout of the emergency department is such that the staff can't see people on their stretchers, or the monitors beside them, from the nurses' station. The Spacelab monitors connect remotely with a screen at the nurses' station allowing the nurses to keep a much closer eye on the people we are most worried about. We have a couple of these monitors currently however, when we are busy, the nurses need to be able to monitor more people at once so that we can respond quickly when there is a change in their vital signs. We really appreciate the Friends of Golden Hospital for supporting this equipment purchase!"
