On July 23, 2022, Rohan, Jesse, and I were climbing North Face of Co-Pilot when a huge rock hit Rohan. Squamish Search and Rescue coordinated the complex rescue (read more about the rescue here) and got us off the mountain. Rohan was first taken to the Squamish staging area, where he received medical aid. Given his critical condition, he was flown to Vancouver General Hospital in an Air Ambulance and admitted to the ICU.
Rohan was taken off life support on August 18, and he breathed his last a few hours later. Rohan lived a full and warm life, filled with kindness. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Rohan is survived by his two-year-old son Agastya and wife Prajakta, who live in Squamish, BC.
After discussing with Prajakta, I am setting up this fundraiser in memory of Rohan to support Squamish Search and Rescue. I would also like to thank North Shore Search and Rescue, Lions Bay Search and Rescue, BCEHS ground, Air Ambulance, Talon Helicopters, Black Tusk Heli, ECC, Squamish RCMP and Sea to Sky Gondola for their support.
Here is a note from Squamish Search and Rescue website -
Squamish Search and Rescue is comprised of a dedicated and committed group of volunteers who invest thousands of hours in training and operations each year. The team relies on donations from government, corporations and individuals to maintain a state of readiness and to conduct life-saving operations. Without the generous support of these organizations and individuals, Squamish Search and Rescue would be unable to function.
Based on Rohan's family's request, please do not share this fundraiser on Social Media. You can text/email the fundraiser links to people who knew Rohan.
