Claire's Canadian Bike Ride

Hello, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

For the past two years I have been planning to cycle across Canada. I am so incredibly excited that two of my closest friends, Julie Cameron and Nina Beslic, will be joining me! I have been lucky to have friends, family, and colleagues who have encouraged and supported me through the development of this plan. With much of the preparation complete, we are finally “gearing up” to leave!

After plenty of research, route planning, and physical training, on May 5, we will officially embark on our journey! We will leave from Victoria, B.C., ending in St. John’s, Newfoundland between three and four months later, spanning over 7000km. We will be carrying all of our gear on our bikes and are planning to camp and cook most of the way. We will all be fundraising for different organizations, and I have chosen to fundraise for the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies.

As animal welfare is a matter that is close to my heart, I will be raising money for the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies. CFHS is an organization that brings together all member humane societies and SPCAs across Canada, providing education and advocacy for animal welfare. Advocacy for animals is important, because they have no voice of their own and are often neglected, abused, and treated inhumanely. CFHS is an organization that does tremendous work striving to fight against needless suffering of animals in Canada. CFHS advocates for the humane treatment of animals as pets, farm animals, animals in laboratories, and wildlife across Canada.

Along my bike ride, I hope to share information and educate about this incredible organization and current issues in Canada with regards to animal welfare.
