Bring Freda to Canada

Freda is an alias for a 24-year-old African refugee who needs support from a new community to reach safety. She has been stateless since her home country arrested her father. At the time, she was a high school student. She wrote a complaint to the human right's office, asking about her father, but then her mother and grandfather were detained. Her life in danger, she left her home on a treacherous journey alone, to claim asylum in a third country. There she has been waiting for years with her life on hold. There are millions of people in temporary camps like Freda's, waiting for a group of citizens in a safe country to join together and open their way forward. Freda dreams only of being able to finish her education, so she can become a doctor and heal others. We are raising funds through the Universalist Unitarian Church of Halifax, to pay for Canadian sponsorship for this wonderful young woman.
