My fundraising continues even though I’ve completed my ONXL bikepacking trip (from 2022-09-08 to 2022-10-06) through southern Ontario and eastern Quebec, riding 3,621 kms with 28,248 metres of climbing, in 26 days plus 3 recovery days, on 32% paved and 68% unpaved roads and trails. For over ten years I have been a Bikes Without Border volunteer mechanic. I have personally seen the positive impact that a bicycle provides people with little or no income (people that are refugees, precariously/un-employed, have mental health problems, children/youth from low/no income families, etc.). A bicycle empowers them with free mobility -- to go to an ESL class, go to school, find/go to work, to have some fun healthy exercise exploring their new neighborhood. Bikes Without Borders recycles old bicycles (donated and collected), repairs them, and gives them free to people who can't afford buying even a used bike. Bikes Without Borders work is primarily done by volunteers. However, Bikes Without Borders needs your donations to pay for bike parts, helmets, locks, and a bike shop manager's salary.
Please donate and help Bikes Without Borders empower those less fortunate with mobility. Approximately about $150 donated covers the cost to pick up, refurbish and provide a used bike to a person in need, along with bell, helmet, and lock. These bikes help people in need access employment, training, education and recreation opportunities that they might not otherwise have had access to.
