About Fundraiser
Fundraiser by Amii - Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute
TechAid 2022
Three days of artificial intelligence and tech-focused programming with opportunities to learn, connect and give back!
Our version of a charity run, TechAid, is an opportunity for you to join in the Amii mission of AI for Good and For All. Rather than racking up the kilometres, we’re putting our love of technology front and centre to raise funds for our charity partners!
Participation in the Reverse Expo and TechTalks is free with a suggested donation to our Canada Helps fundraising campaign. We work on the honour system and hope you will too!
Period Promise - United Way Alberta Capital Region
Did you know more than 1 in 3 young people who menstruate didn’t feel prepared for their first period; 1 in 7 have struggled to access the period products they need; 1 in 7 are worried about their ongoing ability to afford them; and 83% of young people have tried to hide the fact they have their period from those around them. This can lead to poor health decisions, including using products for too long, using unclean alternatives, or ignoring symptoms that could be signs of larger problems. As we collectively work towards welcoming more women and gender-diverse people into the AI field, access to period products is just one more step we can take to ensure we remove any roadblocks to their success.
You’ll find Menstruation Stations in all washrooms at TechAid 2022, and Amii is proud to be among Alberta's first signatories of the Period Promise Policy Agreement. Click to learn more about the United Way Alberta Capital Region's work to eliminate period poverty.
