About Fundraiser
Fundraiser by Churchill Wild
Hosted by Churchill Wild
We couldn’t walk with polar bears at our lodges this year, so we’re channeling that energy towards something a bit different.
December 1, 2020 marks the 8th annual Giving Tuesday, a “global movement for giving and volunteering.” This initiative is a beautiful reminder that we’re stronger when we come together, even if we do it virtually.
Inspired by our love for the wildlife and wild places of Manitoba, and by our amazing community, today we’re announcing our very first Giving Tuesday fundraiser, ‘A Wild Walk for Charity’.
Our team members have committed to walking between five and ten kilometres throughout the day (equivalent to the average distance walked each day on one of our safaris!) and we’ll be taking pledges in support of two wonderful charitable organizations: the Canadian Wildlife Federation and United Way of Winnipeg.
Our walk will be a bit warmer and a bit less wild than we’re used to, but we will have a special northern ambassador joining us—and that’s all we’ll say about that for now.
Donate to one or both charities and be entered to win one of our give-back-prize-packs! (You must share your name and email address so that we can contact you if you're a winner. Winners will be chosen at random.)
Eligible donors will be entered to win one of two ‘give back prize packs’ valued at approximately $200.00. Prize includes:
- ‘Our Wild World’ 2021 wildlife calendar by our friend George Turner, featuring images from his trip with Churchill Wild. Give-back: George is donating a portion of proceeds from his calendar to Polar Bears International.
- An organic cotton/recycled polyester t-shirt from New Plumage, a sustainable clothing line created by Hal and Cristina Brindley of Travel for Wildlife. Give-back: New Plumage donates $1.00 from every shirt to bird conservation efforts AND each shirt prevents seven plastic bottles from reaching landfills or oceans
- An original polar bear line drawing by Winnipeg artist Kal Barteski.Give-back: Kal is donating 100% of proceeds to the Polar Bear Fund.
- A set of bamboo utensils from 4Ocean. Give-back: for every item purchased, 4Ocean removes one pound of trash from oceans and coastlines.
- A collection of our favourite waste-free and eco-friendly products
- A Churchill Wild water bottle and toque
