A Special Surprise for Dorothy

Dorothy Marshall is an organic farmer and mother of five living in central Alberta. For the past forty years Dorothy has worked hard through the challenge of carving out a living with mixed animal organic farming. Despite all the physical and financial difficulties of doing so, she has a deep heart for those whose struggles are even greater than her own. She has worked tirelessly to educate and encourage her community to share our blessings with those who are in need. The charity that is most dear to her heart is the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund. This group works with local partners throughout the world to help with development projects and emergency needs. They have done great good.

Dorothy has volunteered for years with the PWRDF as the local educator and organizer in the Anglican Church. Last February she was offered the opportunity to travel to India to see some of the development projects firsthand.  She was so happy to meet the people behind the stories she'd been sharing. 

Recently, and rather out of the blue, Dorothy was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.  This is a challenging time for her as she was just in the process of retiring. She was looking forward to spending more time with her eleven grandchildren and doing volunteer work.  Barring a miracle, she will be moving on to her next adventure soon.  As a surprise gift that would greatly bless Dorothy we are raising money for the people all over the world who will benefit from the work of the PWRDF. 

We are excitedly anticipating the look on her face when we explain to Mum that friends, family, and strangers have banded together to raise money for the PWRDF as a way to honour her.  She will be so blessed by this: thank you.
