About Fundraiser
Fundraiser by Paul Simard
For all of her adult life, Catherine Simard has been giving back to the community. Whether it was coaching one of her boy's hockey teams, running a volunteer station at the Pointe-Claire Oldtimers Hockey Tournament or, her true passion, supporting the West Island Women's Shelter, Cathy never thought to ask, "What's in it for me?", but rather was always thinking, "How can I help?"
As a member of the Board and later as President, Cathy was committed to ensuring that women and children who needed it had a safe place to go when they had been or were in fear of being abused.
Earlier this summer, Cathy was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which has since spread. True to form, Cathy did not wait to do something, but instead, she wanted to take this opportunity to once again help others. And we hope you will join her.
Cathy gave tirelessly to this mission, and even today, the team shares the following thought when writing to her eldest son, Paul: "We all care for your mother (Cathy) here at the Shelter and we are here to help in any way we can. Your mother is in our thoughts and prayers. She is a wonderful person, she touched so many lives. She came, she saw, she did!"
You came to this page, you read this story, now, will you "Be Like Cathy" and lean all the way? Will you "do" what we hope you will, and support the Shelter?
Let's celebrate a life of service, let's all...
Be Like Cathy!
HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE
As a non-profit organization, the shelter relies on your help. Your support is the testimony of a community that refuses to be silent, indifferent. We encourage everyone to be as generous as they feel called to be, as the support that the Shelter requires is significant in order to serve the women and children that come to them.
Here are some examples of how every donation can help change a life...
50.00$ : Offer critical supplies for a woman in need
With your donation of 50.00$, you will be offering support to a woman and her children as she tries to rebuild her life and that of her children.
25.00$ : Offer support to a woman living in our second-stage residence
With your donation of 25.00$, you will be offering support to a woman in her de-victimization process and help her in regaining control over her life, allowing her to continue what she already started at our shelter.
15.00$ : Offer support to a child living in our second-stage residence
By making a donation of 15.00$, you will be contributing to the de-victimization process of one of the children in order to diminish the effects of conjugal violence on her or him.
