In March I turned 50 and to celebrate made plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with my friend of 38 years, Jo Lambert. We start on June 14 and will summit with the full moon on June 20.
To help spur me on when the air gets thin I have turned the trip into a fundraiser for HEART Dog Rescue in Rossland. Because if there's one thing that will keep my legs moving it's the thought of helping dogs!
HEART Dog Rescue is dedicated to removing unwanted or neglected dogs from remote Canadian communities and finding them loving homes. They work with several frontline rescue organizations to move dogs from as far away as the Northwest Territory (SPCA) to foster homes in the East and West Kootenays. They also volunteer at Spay/Neuter events throughout Alberta with CATF.
You can donate/sponsor me for this epic adventure and if you need inspiration here's the numbers:
- Distance... 42m/70km
- Elevation gain... 3595m from 2300m to 5895m
- Time... 8 days
