5K - Every Day - Through April till May
Throughout April I will be running 5km every day to raise money for SEED Junior Academy, Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya.
My target of $1408 is what it costs to pay the school’s 4 teacher’s salaries for 1 whole term (4 months). Teaching has become infinitely more challenging during COVID times. And with all of the schools in the slum entirely dependent on private financing for them to function, many have not been able to survive the pandemic. SEED Junior Academy needs outside support to continue feeding and teaching these children.
So this fundraising effort is in gratitude of the teachers of SJA Kibera, which teaches some of the most in-need children in one of Africa’s largest slums.
And for me, it’s an opportunity to get back into running regularly, something that has definitely fallen by the wayside through COVID!
Once upon a time, running 5k a day might have been a doddle for me. But that is DEFINITELY not the case now!
