About Fundraiser
Fundraiser by Mike Arnold
As much as it pains me to say, I feel like running a marathon is generally done for selfish reasons: personal body goals, self-promotion, Instagram, etc.
This October I'll be toeing the line at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon for my fifth marathon and while I'll be taking plenty of selfies, I'm much more excited to fundraise for One Spark Canada throughout my training and on race day.
One Spark's vision is a world where no woman faces financial barriers to living a life free of violence. I'm super passionate about what One Spark does here in Ontario. They provide women in the program with supplies, equipment, training and mentorship to start and grow their own businesses, allowing them to become financially independent and escape violent situations.
My sister Danielle is a board member and I've been lucky enough to help them plan a few fundraisers in the past. There's nothing but passion and enthusiasm at One Spark and it's been amazing to see them change the lives of more and more women as they continue to grow.
If you have the means, please consider donating to help One Spark on its mission. You get a tax receipt and a warm, fuzzy feeling in your tummy. For me personally, it will make my painful training runs a little less traumatic knowing that you've inspired women and helped them escape violence.
