For the past several years my friends and I have been working together to raise money to help benefit the Edmonton Food Bank -- feeding hungry families and helping to lift heavy loads during the winter holiday season.
Many of us have personal connections to the food bank and all of us have an interest in helping people make sure they can put food on the table, especially during the holiday season. The winter holidays can be wonderful and magical, but they can also be difficult and stressful so we're doing what we can to light a candle, of sorts. To offer some light in the darkness.
That's the theme for this year's fundraiser -- Light in the Darkness.
These past few years in particular have felt like one big, scary thing after another but through this fundraiser we can try to push back against that a bit, shine a light and offer some help.
Because of the Food Bank's partnerships and buying power they can turn every dollar into three meals so every single donation really counts.
This year our goal is $1,000 and if we reach it that will provide 3,000 meals to help make the season bright.
