Our Mission

The Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra provides young musicians with a developmental learning environment encouraging discipline, teamwork and critical thinking in a forum of positive, supportive and interactive participation. It is an arena wherein young people, regardless of culture or status, can come together to play challenging repertoire, to hone their performance skills and develop inter-personal skills. In performance, the ensembles gain the experience of the concert setting at prestigious venues across the GTA and on tour. They strive to offer a professional-calibre performance, providing their audiences with a wide variety of programming, thereby encouraging appreciation for and knowledge of wind band repertoire in our community.

About Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (TYWO)

The Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra and its family of ensembles maintain the rich tradition of providing positive, life-enhancing experiences for young people through the study and performance of wind band literature. It is a community-driven youth organization which operates largely through the support of a wide network of volunteers and patrons, and continues to raise the awareness of wind band repertoire and promote the importance of music education and the arts.
