Tune in on December 3rd at 12 PM EST to join us for a special 45-minute video live stream hosted by internationally renowned journalist and news host Akshay Tandon. During this event, we will reveal the 10 extraordinary charities each receiving a $10,000 donation and share the incredible stories of others.

Joining us are some of Canada’s most recognized influencers and philanthropists, including mega influencer Sarah Nicole Landry, the dynamic force behind The Birds Papaya; the hilarious duo Cat & Nat, known for their #MOMTRUTHS; resiliency scholar and author Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe; Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist Jon Montgomery; and more.

Since its inception in 2001, the Foundation has committed more than $9 million to over 150 communities across Canada through local giving, community grants, and employee engagement and volunteerism. As passionate community champions and trusted insurance experts, Western Financial Group is providing $100,000 through their Western Communities Foundation to support Canadian charities in honour of this special occasion

To choose the 10 charities, their charity team will create a shortlist of charities from submissions that meet the criteria explained in the terms & conditions. Employees of Western Financial Group will then vote to select the final recipients of the donation.

How did GivingTuesday get started?

GivingTuesday started in 2012 in New York as a way to encourage people to do good and spread generosity within their communities.

This movement was brought to Canada a year later for the same reason and has been a part of Canadians’ lives ever since. In fact, more than ~6 million Canadians participated in GivingTuesday in 2021!

GivingTuesday was founded in Canada by CanadaHelps.org, GIV3 and several other founding partners.

Where do we start? Not only does it put a spotlight on the amazing work charities are doing across the country, but it also encourages Canadians to do good and give after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
