“Columbus House seeks to improve the quality of life for youth in Renfrew County by providing structured, supportive and safe residential and day programming while they are pursuing
their education and training.”
Two residential homes are located in Pembroke, housing up to 6 youth 16 - 21 years of age in each. Child & Youth workers act as mentors, teachers, and counsellors to assist the youth in achieving short and long-term goals, promote positive mental health, increase life and employment skills, and support continuing education.
The Young Parent Support Program supports young parents in increasing their parent capacity, life skills, promoting positive mental health, and completing their secondary education. Hands on parenting, onsite licensed childcare, and concurrent programming support child development and attachment. Outreach is a main component of our program during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Teen Compass Program provides skill building and leadership through experiential education and workshops for youth struggling in the present school system.
Columbus House is a partner with 'Safe Shelter for Youth' providing one emergency bed at each residence.
