Our Mission

Youth Haven Barrie strives to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing and Outreach support services to youth experiencing homelessness, or at risk of becoming homeless, between the ages of 16-24 years of age. Youth Haven Barrie is the only youth emergency shelter in the County of Simcoe providing over 500 youths with the support and guidance they need to better their lives.

About YOUTH HAVEN (BARRIE)

We intend to treat each individual that comes to Youth Haven with fairness, kindness, respect and courtesy. We attempt to create a safe, warm, nonjudgmental, and friendly environment to enhance their personal, physical and emotional growth.

Youth Haven works out its mission and philosophy with the following goals and objectives. The three areas involved in our mandate are a) short term stay, b) long term stay, and c) equipping. Components involved in the above are as follows:

1) Protection

2) Food

3) Shelter

4) Counseling

5) Life skills training

6) Liaison with community officials and agencies

7) Liaison with family and reconciliation where possible
