5 Days for the Homeless is a student-led campaign that originated at the University of Alberta in 2005 and has since spread to campuses across the country. For the 2024 campaign, 5 Days is happy to announce that it has returned to its namesake tradition of sleeping outside for five nights while hosting an array of events to raise awareness and donations for youth homelessness. The date for this year's campaign is March 24 - March 28, with a goal of raising $20,000 for Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS) which is the only not-for-profit organization within the Edmonton community that directly addresses youth homelessness.
