The Young Adults and Youth (YAAY) Committee is inviting you to join us in running or walking to raise money to bring a family of refugees to Winnipeg. If you are not interested in taking part, please consider donating in support of one of our participants.

Trek to Turkey (jotform.com)

Event details: Using an app called Pacer, all participants will collectively run or walk a total of 900km in one week. All participants who raise or donate at least $20 will be eligible to win prizes for three different categories. All participants will also receive a gift of a plant for their participation.

This is one of the fundraisers being put on by the YAAY Committee with support from Young United Church to bring a family of refugees to Winnipeg from Turkey to join their daughter who is already living here. We need to raise a total of $8000, of which we have already raised $2500. All money raised will be used to help the family settle into life in Canada by providing means to access housing, transport and other important resources.

Prizes will be available for the following categories:

Participant who raised the most money

Participant who travelled the most kilometers in the week

Random draw for all participants who raised at least $20

This is a virtual event, meaning that you can participate from anywhere, as long as you can use the app. To register, please fill out this form: Trek to Turkey (jotform.com). Information about how to use the app will be sent to you after you register.

About the Charity: The YAAY Committee is made up of youth and young adults from across Manitoba and North Western Ontario, otherwise known as the Prairie To Pine Regional Council of the United Church of Canada. They plan youth events throughout the year, and last year decided to take on the extra challenge of helping Young United Church to raise the remaining needed funds to support a family of refugees.
