About the YMCA-YWCA OF VANCOUVER ISLAND

Impacting hundreds of individuals, families, children, youth, and seniors for over 150 years, one of the most important goals of the Y is to enrich the lives of those in the community. We value inclusiveness and accessibility, and as a result, we serve people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities through all stages of life. Our Impact

There are many moving parts to having an active, healthy life.

For example, one third of Canadians report not having a sense of community.

There are a number of other factors affecting the health of Canadians. Employment and working conditions; where you live and your physical environment; social support networks; education; personal health practices and coping skills; healthy child development; gender; and culture.

That’s why we work hard every day to make a tangible difference in people’s lives and the communities they live in by addressing many of these issues.

Membership AssistanceHundreds of individuals are assisted with memberships every month at our Downtown and Westhills locations.

Over 150

The Y's Camp Thunderbird / Outdoor CentreChildren and youth are assisted every summer to challenge themselves, gain confidence, make new friendships, and reach their potential in this amazing outdoor setting.

The Y raises funds to support these and other important programs to help everyone in our community.
