I am grateful to be one of the 16 athletes chosen to represent Canada at the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Women's World Challenge, being held in Skien Norway from October 25th to 28th. Although over the last few seasons we have gained some of the recognition and sponsorship we deserve as female athletes, the reality is that it's still not enough to cover the expense of this competition. As an athlete, I am still having to pay my own way to represent Canada. I was born with Cerebral Palsy, and have been a member of the team since I was 14. Now, nearly 10 years later I am a master's student, moved half way across the country and I am accomplishing my goals. One day, I hope to include going to the Paralympics to that list of accomplishments. However, in order to get Paralympic recognition, we need to grow the sport and participate in competitions such as this while paying to play. My passion for this sport, and love for this team has only continued to grow. We are a team united by our dedication to the game, and I would appreciate your help in any way that you can.
