I am grateful to be one of the 16 athletes chosen to represent Canada at the 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Women's World Challenge, being held in Skien Norway from October 25th to 28th.
Para hockey has become a big part of my life since losing my leg 5 years ago. After a life changing accident, playing para hockey provided me with feelings of accomplishment, self-worth and community. I feel honoured to be part of the national team and having the opportunity to play a sport I love alongside the other top female athletes in the sport.
Although we have gained some of the recognition and sponsorship we deserve as female athletes, the reality is that it's still not enough to cover the expense of this competition. As athletes, we are still having to pay a portion of our way to represent Canada on the world stage.
With your donation you will be helping myself and my teammates represent our country. One day, with support from people like you, women and girls from all over Canada, and the world, will be able to play para hockey in the Paralympics.
