On November 30th, I am joining Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence, a 6km walk to raise funds and awareness for Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region and women and children our community experiencing domestic violence.
This is an organization I have come to know through my interim work as a funder of various charities. Their work is vital and often hidden.
The increase and escalation of violence against women calls for action. Thirty-two femicides were committed in the first 6 months of 2024 in Ontario alone. We must continue raising awareness and funds to prevent these tragedies from happening.
