November 18th, 2023 marked Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region annual ‘Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence’ event, aimed at raising essential funds for women & children moving beyond violence.
This 6km walk is a time to reflect on and bring awareness to the increase of femicide. Every 6 days in Canada, a woman is killed by her intimate partner. To date, there have been 50 femicides in 2023. Waterloo Region has recently declared intimate partner violence an epidemic. Awareness is spreading and my page, Better Beginnings reflects the hope that one day we can live in a world free of femicide.
In support of Women's Abuse Prevention Month, I hope to raise $1000 by the end of November. All proceeds donated to WCSWR aids in providing emergency shelter and outreach services to survivors throughout their healing journey.
Every $10 donation to my page, Better Beginnings, will receive a ballot for a local raffle basket hand-selected by me!:) Together, we can make an impact.
