"You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes."

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks men, women and children to literally walk one mile in women's shoes. We do this to understand the experience of women and encourage the community to talk about this difficult topic, abuse.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes will benefit local women and children affected by intimate partner violence and supported by the Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie. Our agency has provided a safe and secure refuge for abused women and their children in Simcoe Community since 1981. By focusing on the positive aspect of a community coming together around this topic, the Walk strives to empower individuals to take a stand against gendered violence.

A significant amount of our agency’s funding comes from the community, from those who believe in the value of each life and empowerment through respect and support us through fundraising and advocacy. Help us reach our goal of raising $70,000 with this event. Help us end the cycle of violence in your community.
