Victoria’s Quilts Canada makes and distributes quilts to people living with cancer in Canada.
Our Mission
The mission of Victoria’s Quilts Canada (VQC) is to provide handmade quilts to people living with cancer in Canada. By providing these quilts, we hope to bring physical comfort to those dealing with cancer as well as spiritual comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggle. The quilts are a gift, and no cost is ever passed on to the quilt recipient or to the person who requests the quilt.
About VICTORIA'S QUILTS CANADA
VQC is a national non-profit charitable organization with headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, and 26 independent branches in cities and towns across Canada. From a humble beginning with twelve women in October 1999, VQC now has over 1,300 dedicated volunteers who make and distribute about 7,000 quilts across the country annually. Together, our volunteers have comforted and soothed the spirits of more than 71,000 Canadians living with cancer since we began.
How you can help
Donations from private individuals, who are often quilt recipients, as well as their families and friends, are our major source of funds. As we do not have any paid staff, these donations are used to purchase materials such as batting and flannel for our quilt-making program.
Monthly Giving Program
Become a member of our Monthly Giving Program and increase the impact of your contribution. For example, donating just $12 a month for one year will enable VQC to purchase one roll of cotton flannel to make the backs of 13 quilts. Donating $20 a month for one year provides us with enough funds to purchase one roll of quilt batting that can then be used to make 26 quilts. When completed, these quilts can then be sent out to provide comfort to someone living with cancer in your community.
Your donation matters. As a monthly contributor, you not only help us reduce our administrative costs, you also provide us with a predictable source of income that allows us to plan ahead and maximize the use of donor dollars. Your monthly commitment, whatever the amount, will ultimately help brighten the lives of those who derive great comfort from a VQC quilt.
