Help Animals and Communities Affected by the Myanmar Earthquake

More than 3,000 people have died and over 1.2 million have been displaced following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck central Myanmar on March 28. Many families still lack access to safe shelter, clean water, food, and medical care. In response, Veterinarians Without Borders North America (VWB) has launched a One Health humanitarian relief effort in partnership with Sopyay Myanmar Development Organization (SMDO), a locally led non-governmental organization with more than a decade of experience in disaster response, targeting some of the hardest-hit rural communities.

Your gift can save lives today.

After assessing the situation, VWB has partnered with SMDO to deliver cash assistance to 120 female-headed households, livestock keepers, and displaced families in the hardest hit regions of Mandalay and Sagaing.

Your gift will support animals and the people who love and depend on them by helping families meet their most immediate needs such as food, shelter, hygiene supplies, and veterinary care. It will also help reduce the likelihood of disease, prevent families from selling the livestock they depend on for their livelihoods, or from consuming unsafe meat.

As part of our One Health response, VWB is also strengthening animal welfare by supporting local veterinary clinics and partnering with Let’s Save The Strays International to deliver emergency care for dogs and cats.

We need your help.

Your donation today will ensure that we can respond swiftly and effectively to this crisis and future emergencies. Every contribution—big or small—makes a direct impact on families and animals struggling to recover.

You can be a lifeline for people and their animals enduring this crisis by bringing urgent relief to them.

Please give now.
